Atoning in Charlotte

I'm heading to Charlotte for the weekend to attend Yom Kippur services with my sister...and surprise my nephews! The weather for Zach's game on Saturday isn't looking too good with rain and temps in the 60s...but I'm sure it will be entertaining!

I am really excited to see my sister and the boys!

Chai Time

This past weekend was marvelous! The weather was perfect for relaxing early-fall weekend. I spent Saturday running some errands and was happy when I started my day with a Chai Latte from Marvelous Market. I usually don't like that place b/c it's overpriced and the service can be pretty bad...but they made a great chai! It made my day!

Today and tomorrow will be warm (but not hot) with a lot of sunshine. Enjoy it! The rest of the week will be cooler and cloudy...and potentially very rainy. I would recommend grabbing yourself a chai when the weather cools down again.

Nice Long Weekend

Does anyone know why we have a holiday in honor of labor? I didn't know the history about it but found it very interesting. It's ok to plagiarize Wikipedia, right?

The first Labor Day in the United States was celebrated on September 5, 1882 in New York City. In the aftermath of the deaths of a number of workers at the hands of the US military and US Marshalls during the 1894 Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland put reconciliation with Labor as a top political priority. Fearing further conflict, legislation making Labor Day a national holiday was rushed through Congress unanimously and signed into law a mere six days after the end of the strike.
