The Office of Personnel Management has announced that the Fed Gov't will close 2 hours early today. That means I can go home 2 hours early too! I suppose we're getting out early b/c of the big "storm" heading our way. We're supposed to get hit by some snow later today and the word on the street is that it's going to be pretty intense - a lot of snow in a short period of time (3-6 inches by midnight). This is no snowmageddon, but I'll take it!
The slush this morning was pretty brutal. Apparently if it's not clearly snow or clearly ice, my neighbors don't feel the need to shovel. Thanks for that! My moon boots can handle the slush, but it wasn't very pleasant. I expect better results tomorrow.

What's the Forecast?
The forecast for DC is actually pretty funny. I think the local meteorologists are a bit gun shy to predict snow so they are saying we could get a lot or not much at all. Hilarious! The most recent forecast I saw predicted 1-3" of snow by tomorrow. In case you're unsure how devastating that could be, I've included a ruler.

A New Year, A New Decade
We're probably half-way through the winter. It was this time last year that DC was recovering from its first winter storm and anticipating another.
I don't necessarily want a full week of snow days again, but I wouldn't mind some snow on the ground. It's possible my wish will be granted on Thursday, but I'm not holding my breath. You know, the same breath I see every morning waiting for the bus. It's cold out there!
